National Chocolate Cake Day with Num Noms

We love Chocolate Cake and today is #NationalChocolateCakeDay, the best day of the year for all you chocoholics out there!

So to celebrate we made our own chocolate cake with ingredients kindly provided by Num Noms UK.

Reese couldn’t wait to get started and proudly wore her Num Noms bakers hat, Ruby was most disgusted that it didn’t fit her.

We were given two boxes of Dr Oetker Bake in the Box Chocolate Cake, which I had never tried before. They were ideal for baking with a 4-year-old as all you had to do was add milk and mix with a fork. Reese felt ever so proud that she was doing it all herself and the counting whilst we added 9 tbs of milk certainly helped her maths. Ruby just got on with it and did it all herself.

Whilst the cakes were baking in the oven, we then had a bit of fun and opened the Nom Nums which we had been sent along with the chocolate cake ingredients. These were a big hit with my girls, especially the 4 and 8-year-olds who had fun putting on the lip gloss and nail polish as well as dressing their Num Noms in all the different outfits.

Once the cake had baked and cooled, they had lots of fun decorating it before having a well-deserved piece of cake followed by a walk on the beach with the dog to work off the cake!

Whilst we were lucky enough to do some baking with Num Noms, An Organised Mess had fun Crafting with Num Noms

We were provided with the Chocolate Cake ingredients and decorations along with Num Noms for free by Num Noms. Please see my Disclosure post for more information.
